Festivals are one of the best ways to boost your friendship with the other townsfolk, even if you just attend. Those who enter a competition festival and win will have access to a variety of rare prizes. Prizes are ranked in tiers. A farmer who wins first place can choose a prize from any of the four tiers, with second place having access to the lower three tiers, third place from the last two tiers, and fourth place from the lowest tier. Prize tiers are listed below. You can only submit one entry per festival, and only one entry per farm will be accepted.
Red Festivals will accept entries from farmers only, Blue Festivals will accept entries from anyone, and Green Festivals are purely social in nature.
Animal Festivals - 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
On the morning of the festival, the mayor will drop by at 8:00 a.m. to ask which animal you want to submit for the contest. An animal cannot be sick or pregnant in order to qualify. The animal with the highest quality items will win. If more than one animal produces high quality goods, or if all the goods produced are of the same quality, the winner will be decided via RNG. Return home at 3:00 p.m.
Fashion Festivals - 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Each participant will model clothing items they've purchased from the Tailor's Shop. The theme will be announced early on, and outfits will be judged on how closely they adhere to that particular theme. The winner will receive +1000 FP with all attending villagers, as well as a special clothing pattern Return home at 3:00 p.m.
Spring/Winter Harmony Day - All Day
A day to give gifts to girls (Spring), or to Boys (Winter). If you give a gift this day, you are likely to receive a gift in return. Qualifying Harmony Day gifts do not count toward your daily one-gift limit, and always net you +1000 FP even if the character doesn't ordinarily like that item: it's the thought that counts!
Spring Harmony Day Gifts - Crepe, Chiffon Cake, Cream Puff, Soy Milk Cookie, Madeline, or Pudding
Winter Harmony Day Gifts - Soft Chocolates, Chocolate Fondue, Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Pudding, Chocolate Cookie, Chocolate Ice Cream, or Cocoa Packs
Honey Festival - 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Submit your best honey! The honey with the highest quality will be deemed the winner. If there is a tie, the winner will be decided randomly. Return home at 3:00 p.m.
Tea Party - 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
All shop owners and vendors take the day off to spend time with each other and drink tea, swap stories, and get to know each other better. If they're particularly good friends with a farmer, that person may be invited to join the party (especially if they're willing to prepare and serve beverages made themselves). Return home at 3:00 p.m.
Crop Festivals - 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
There are four categories you can enter, but you can only submit one entry total per festival. The four categories are Vegetables, Fruits, Flowers, and Other. Return home at 3:00 p.m.
Flower Festival - All Day
A chance to give flowers in exchange for FP. Even if someone doesn't ordinarily like flowers, they're acceptable today, and don't count toward the one-gift daily limit. Giving someone a bouquet will earn +2000 FP. Flowers grown on a farm grant +1000 FP, and flowers foraged in the wild give +500 FP.
Gardening Tour - 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Five townsfolk will be randomly selected for each gardening tour to serve as judges, where they will visit each participating farm's garden and decide who has the best one. Winning this festival will net you 5,000 GP in addition to any earned farm points. If you win the gardening tour, you'll earn 1000 FP with all of the villagers. If you have absolutely nothing in your garden and you signed up to participate in the gardening tour, you'll lose 1000 FP with the judges for wasting their time.
Critter Catching Festival - 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The festival begins from the moment you arrive at the town square and inform the mayor you wish to enter. You then have until 3:00 p.m.to catch as many insects/critters as possible in the river, forest, and/or mountain areas. The person who catches the most critters, with the highest overall value as the tie-breaker, will win. (Determined randomly, and RP'd out.) Return home at 5:00 p.m.
Cooking Festival - 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Arrive at the festival and tell the mayor you wish to participate. There is a separate competition for each type of recipe: Soup, Salad, Pot, Fried, Rice, Bread/Noodles, Snacks, and Beverages. There's also a full-course competition where you will need to bring a salad, soup, pot OR fried dish, rice OR bread/noodles dish, snack, and beverage. Winning the full-course competition will triple the farm points earned, so it's worthwhile to give it your best shot. Each dish will be judged according a formula based on the number of ingredients used to make it, any secret ingredients used, and how many gold/premium quality ingredients were involved. Feel free to exchange recipes with other townsfolk, they might even have some suggestions on how to improve the dish you submitted. Return home at 3:00 p.m.
Fireworks Festival - 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Gather with the other townsfolk to watch the fireworks. If you have a sweetheart, you may earn some additional FP at their discretion should you choose to watch the display with him or her. Return home at 11:00 p.m.
Music Festival - 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
The villagers gather together to listen to each other perform. Showcase your talents if you have them! After the performance, each villager can have tea with the other villagers to increase friendship. Return to your house at 4:00 p.m.
Fishing Tournament - 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Requires ownership of a fishing rod. The festival begins from the moment you arrive at the town square and inform the mayor you wish to enter. At that point, each hour you have remaining can be spent catching 3 fish determined randomly by the mod (6 if you have the Master Rod). Points will be awarded for each fish caught: 1 point for small fish, 3 points for medium fish, 6 points for large fish, and 10 points for giant fish. Whoever has the most points will win. There will be additional farm points and +1000 FP for the person who caught the biggest fish of all. Return home at 5:00 p.m.
Foliage Festival - 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Meet up at the town square. You and a friend/partner will go into the forest to help gather leaves for the bonfire. Then you'll return to the town square to eat roasted yams. Return home at 4:00 p.m.
Pumpkin Festival - All Day
Give cooked desserts to villagers for an extra +1000 FP! The desserts do not count toward the one-gift daily limit, and may be received even if that person doesn't like the dessert you made them: it's the thought that counts.
Snow Festival - 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Meet up at the town square. Gather with friends to build something out of snow. 0-1 friends: Snowman. 2-10 friends: Animal. 11-20 friends: Pegasus. 21+ friends: Snow Shrine. After building something out of snow, everyone relaxes to eat a hearty bowl of stew. Return home at 4:00 p.m.
Starry Night Festival - 7:00 p.m. - Midnight
On the day before, you can choose to invite one person to celebrate the festival with you. On the 25th, he or she will arrive at your house between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Then you'll go to the mountains and watch the stars, and have a chance to say something romantic. You may even get a kiss, if your date is your sweetheart. After it's over, walk your date home or allow them to walk you home. This earns a special +2000 FP.
New Year's Eve - 9:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
Meet up at the town square to eat noodles and countdown the start of the new year. Each villager who attends will receive 10 Rice Flour and 10 Onigiri. After the festival is over, you'll wake up the next day in your bed at 6:00 a.m.
